Task 3

Front cover and masthead analysis (of competitors) and how they have influenced your idea
MIXMAG
Masthead – The masthead MIXMAG is pretty self explanatory and consists of abbreviations, the masthead UNDERGROUND is also pretty self explanatory so you could say that I adopted that quality from MIXMAG.

Front cover – MIXMAG’s front cover consists of bright colours that are associated with ‘club culture’  and seems to follow the ‘less is more’ approach to things, the bold text and exciting colours, complimented with an explosive design make the MIXMAG of January 2011 an aesthetically pleasing issue to the readers.

FRONT
Masthead – The masthead FRONT is short and sweet and could be perceived in a number of ways, the masthead UNDERGROUND is also short and sweet mirroring FRONT but would rarely be perceived in a different way than it is meant to be.

Front cover – FRONT’s front cover is again laden with bright colours and Stylish fonts but this issue seems to display a minimalist approach on text and a focal main point of the central dominant image. As Front is a lifestyle magazine and it caters for a demographic of 16 to 25 year olds the central dominant image is undoubtedly a female model.
