Task 2

Task 2
FRONT magazine
First published:  1998
Target audience age: 16-25 year old males
Current publisher: KANE Ltd
Current editor: Joe Barnes
Front was created by Cabal Communications to rival IPC’s magazine LOADED, although I realize this magazine is a lifestyle magazine whilst mine is a music magazine I consider it a competitor because it covers the type of fashion, films and games that my target audience will be interested in and it also lightly touches upon the music my magazine focuses on but in nowhere near enough depth to compete with UNDERGROUND. The comedic mode of address that FRONT has adopted would also appeal to my target audience and although Front retains these qualities that will attract my target audience it also includes things such as sport and a wide variety of music genres the majority of which will repel them.
MIXMAG magazine
First published: 1983
Target audience: 18 -28 year old males
Current publisher:  Development Hell Ltd
Current editor: Andrew Harrison
MIXMAG is a magazine that covers all dance music and club culture, I consider it a competitor as it focuses on the same type of music and culture that UNDERGROUND does, the reason that UNDERGROUND will be able to compete with MIXMAG is that it focuses on the opposite end of the spectrum, Mixmag covers the softer more commercial side of the club scene whereas UNDERGROUND concentrates on the heavier up-coming music found in the club scene and also exclusively covers the ‘rave scene’ and the ‘grime scene’ who coincidentally respect, appreciate, and share each other’s tastes in fashion and music and are united in their dim view of MIXMAGS target audience.
